A big, soft, full-bodied and spicy Syrah from the ‘hundred year event’ on the island, with the classic character and personality of a Syrah from the Northern Rhone (ie Cote Rotie in style). However, this one is SIGNIFICANTLY BOLDER and more concentrated than our Gold Medal Syrah 2008. Classic dark fruit, blackcurrant, earthy ‘forest floor’ nuances and subtle black pepper.
Having been removed from sale for further cellaring, it is now (June 2021) re-released and available again in limited amount via the online shop and Cellar Door. It is also still available for Cellar Club discounts. After 11 years of cellar-ageing it is drinking now at peak in its ‘intermediate stage’, with loads of character, personality and ‘sense of place’ and beautifully soft tannins. It clearly has much longer cellaring potential and will be at its best for at least another 10 years.
